Cleanroom wipes combined with alcohol (typically isopropyl alcohol or IPA) are widely used in industries requiring high cleanliness standards, such as electronics, optics, semiconductors, and medical device manufacturing. Proper usage ensures effective removal of dust, fingerprints, oils, and other contaminants without leaving residues or causing damage.
1. Materials Needed
-
Cleanroom Wipes: Choose polyester, microfiber, or double-knit wipes that are low-lint, solvent-compatible, and soft on surfaces.
-
Alcohol Solution: Use 70% or 99.9% isopropyl alcohol (IPA) for fast evaporation and effective disinfection.
-
Optional Tools: ESD gloves and clean trays for contamination-free handling.
2. How to Use
-
Take a clean wipe and fold it 2–3 times to increase thickness and contact area.
-
Saturate the wipe with alcohol — either by dipping or spraying — but avoid over-wetting.
-
Wipe the surface in a straight-line (S-pattern or Z-pattern) motion, never back and forth, to prevent recontamination.
-
For sensitive surfaces, follow with a dry cleanroom wipe to remove any remaining alcohol.
-
Discard the wipe after single use to avoid cross-contamination.
3. Precautions
-
Do not use industrial-grade alcohol or alcohol containing impurities.
-
Perform cleaning in a ventilated, dust-free area.
-
Use the alcohol-soaked wipe immediately to avoid alcohol evaporation and reduced effectiveness.
